Daily COVID-19 update: 3 area counties see case increases
Three area counties saw increases in lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, according to the daily update from the Minnesota Department of Health.
Freeborn County had one new case, bringing the county’s total cumulative cases to 298. Of the total cases, 280 are out of isolation and 18 active cases remain, according to the Freeborn County Public Health Department.
The department stated the new case was a person in their 20s.
There is also one new person who is hospitalized today, with the total count of county residents who have been hospitalized at 23. A total of four are in the hospital today.
The state department of health said Mower County had five new cases and has now had 965 cases, and Steele County had two new cases, increasing its total to 239.
No new cases were reported in Faribault and Waseca counties.
Statewide, 463 new cases were reported, increasing the total cumulative cases to 39,589. Of the total cases, 34,902 are out of isolation and 265 are hospitalized, including 122 in intensive care.
The department stated eight new deaths were reported in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Olmsted, Ramsey and St. Louis counties. Five of the new deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
This brings the state’s total death count to 1,485, of which 1,161 were residents in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The department stated 692,970 tests have been completed since March.
